You have probably seen those great looking videos which simulate a plane flying over a map, either on TV or on certain websites. These videos are great for illustrating various trips or journeys and you may want to create one such video, to illustrate a trip in which you have been. An application which can help you in this situation is Road Trip Effect.

This Windows program allows you to create animated video of a plane flying over a map and leaving a trail behind. Thus, you will be able to easily show the paths for your journey. After installing the program and running it, the user will just need to define the start and the end points on the map. Optionally, several points can be defined and can also be interconnected.

Unfortunately, only the map of the United States is included in the application. Still, additional maps can be easily imported from any JPEG image file. After the points are defined on the map, the user will be able to preview the video before actually saving it, for making sure that everything is in order. After previewing the video, one will be able to export it to a wide range of video formats, using configurable quality settings.
